TRIP SCHEDULES

Starting May 25, 2021 the BC government began a gradual, stepwise easing of restrictions to limit the spread of Covid-19 and, as of June 15, personal outdoor gatherings of up to 50 people are now permitted. On June 1, 2021 the AVOC resumed the scheduling of club trips. Maximum group size is now at the discretion and comfort level of the trip leader and can depend on the presence of a co-leader .  In accordance with B.C. health guidelines it is expected that physical distancing will be maintained during the activity.  When possible, people are encouraged to rendezvous at the trail head but when parking limitations or the need for 4WD vehicles necessitates carpooling the wearing of face masks in the vehicle is currently recommended for those not in the same household or “bubble”.   https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictions

Note: Please see the instructions at the bottom of the page to signup for Meetup and then access the AVOC meetup site.

As of autumn 2020, trip schedules will no longer be posted on this website. The AVOC will be using the Meetup program for posting trips and for communications with club members. Members: stay tuned for an announcement and invitation to join the AVOC meetup site. Outings can be added to the schedule by trip leaders. Anyone using Meetup can see the hike listings but details (leader contact information, description of outing, and rendezvous place and time) will be visible only to club members. Meetup has the advantage of being able to automatically communicate changes to the schedule to members.

Trips may be scheduled on weekdays as well as weekends; check the schedule carefully. Be aware that a trip may be changed to another day at the leader’s discretion or even cancelled based on weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The schedule will be updated accordingly and notification will go to AVOC members. Similarly, the destination may be changed due to weather or access conditions. Please contact the trip leaders several days in advance for confirmation and registration. Most trips represent a full day’s outing. Please plan accordingly.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic the Outdoor Club has adopted some guidelines to promote the safety of participants. Numbers of participants are being restricted to facilitate physical distancing; club members are given priority with non-members being accepted if space permits. Although car-pooling is discouraged it is occurring to a small degree, if both drivers and passengers are in agreement, because of road access issues and limited parking at trail heads. Face masks are strongly recommended for co-riders not in the same “bubble”. Bring hand sanitizer as well as your own pen to sign the forms.
